Vanilla Roasted Tofu Sandwich

Cut the northern tofu into two large slices about 1cm thick;

Fold it up with kitchen paper and put it in a shallow tray; put a piece of kitchen paper on the bottom;

Put another kind of kitchen paper on the top, and press heavy objects (I use a shallow dish, add some water to the shallow dish); this step is to squeeze out the water in the tofu as much as possible to prepare for the next step;

1 tablespoon of olive oil, half of freshly squeezed lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of mirin (or cooking wine), 1 tablespoon of Japanese soy sauce (or umami soy sauce), 1 clove of minced garlic, 3 minced basil leaves (Or a little dried basil), a little pepper, put them in a small bowl, and make a marinade;

Add the marinade to the tofu, put it in the fresh-keeping box, and marinate for more than 2 hours, or put it in the refrigerator and marinate overnight. If you eat in the morning, this step is done in the evening.

Put the pine nuts in a pan and bake them over low heat; (use cooked pine nuts, this step can be omitted)

1 small handful of cooked pine nuts, 1 clove of garlic, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, a few slices of basil leaves (or a little dried basil), 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce, put them into the grinder of a blender;

Beat until smooth and thick, and make a sauce for later use. (This step can also be done ahead of time, put in the refrigerator and keep it cold)

Wash the lettuce and tear it into slices, drain the water for later use; wash and cut the tomatoes into large slices for later use;

Cut whole wheat staple bread into large slices;

Brush a little olive oil on the surface and fry in a pan until golden on both sides;

Cut the onion into two large slices;

Add a little olive oil to the pan, fry the onions until they are charred on both sides, set aside;

In the original pot for frying the onions, add the marinated tofu and marinated tofu soup, and slowly fry and stew;

Fry until the soup is dry, then fry until the tofu is golden brown on both sides and turn over in the middle;

Take a slice of bread and sprinkle it with vanilla sauce;

Spread lettuce leaves and tomato slices;

Have a slice of tofu, and add a slice of onion on top of the tofu;

Cover with another slice of bread smeared with sauce.

Open your mouth and eat! Or be gentle, put it on a plate, and eat slowly with a knife and fork! You can also add some sauce! That sauce is really delicious!
