Bean Paste Zongzi (homemade Bean Paste)

Soak the red beans one night in advance.

Soak the glutinous rice one night in advance.

Soak the zongzi leaves to make them more resilient.

Put the soaked red beans in an iron pot, add enough water, twice as much as the red beans, bring to a boil on high heat and turn to medium heat.

When it is sufficiently viscous, add brown sugar and stir-fry evenly.

Put all into the blender, stir into bean paste, put it back into the iron pot, stir-fry over high heat to dry the water.

Make the red bean paste and let it cool for later use.

Bend the zong leaves into a funnel shape and tighten the bottom.

Put in some glutinous rice.

Add bean paste.

Add glutinous rice.

Cover the mouth with zong leaves and wrap it tightly along the zongzi shape. Finally, wrap the mouth with cotton thread and tie a knot.

Put the wrapped zongzi into the pot, add enough cold water, 5 cm below the zongzi, the fire will boil, and the house will be filled with the fragrance of the zongzi.

Turn to medium and low heat and cook for 1 hour, turn off the heat, soak for half an hour, and cook for another hour. The glutinous rice will be soft and waxy.

After letting cool, start eating!
Tips:
The rice dumplings can be cooked for a while to soften the glutinous rice.
