Dragon Boat Festival Fragrant-candied Date Rice Dumpling
1.
The glutinous rice is soaked overnight in advance. I use round glutinous rice. My home is in the northeast. I always use this type. Ours is also called Jiangmi. It feels more sticky, has a good taste, and is not so scumbag.
2.
Rinse dried zong leaves and zong ropes in advance with water and soak them.
3.
Red dates can be soaked and pitted, and various types of dates packed in bags can be used. The taste is sweeter. My mother-in-law brought dates from Shandong. Although they are dried dates, they are super sweet.
4.
Prepare two zong leaves to be stacked together, roll up as shown in the picture, into an inverted cone, and put glutinous rice and dates.
5.
Put some glutinous rice on the jujube, buckle the zong leaves on the top, wrap the upper part of the round seal cone, and wrap it tightly.
6.
Fold the extra zong leaves to one side, turn them along the zongzi, and then tie the zong ropes.
7.
After everything is wrapped, put water in the boiling pot and put the dumplings in. Cover the dumplings with water. After the high heat is boiled, cook on medium heat for one hour.
