According to legend, Ding Baozhen came to Sichuan to promote water conservancy, and the people felt his virtue and offered his favorite fried chicken. Later, because Ding Baozhen officially named the prince Taibao, he was generally called Gongbao, hence the name "Kongbao Chicken".
