Family Reunion with Waxed Lotus Leaf Rice

Dice carrots and sausages for later use. Mix well with oyster sauce, light soy sauce, braised honey sauce, pepper and sesame oil as seasonings.

Wash the rice and lotus seeds and soak them for two hours. The water must be less than that of the rice; after soaking, discard the excess water and set aside.

Put an appropriate amount of water in the pot to boil, rinse the lotus leaves with water and put it in the pot.

After the lotus leaves are boiled, they can be taken out for use after they become soft. There is no need to boil them in water for a long time.

Put the sausages in a cold pan, slowly heat up and stir-fry on low heat.

As the sausage is easy to scorch, stir-fry on low heat until you smell the aroma.

Add corn kernels, diced carrots and soaked lotus seeds. You can add all the lotus seeds and stir fry or leave about 10-15 for garnish.

Put the soft-boiled lotus leaves into a large bowl. The edges of the lotus leaves can be trimmed slightly; this way they will not be too big.

After the lotus leaves are trimmed, put in the fried rice, compact with a spoon and put the remaining lotus seeds on the surface for decoration.

Fold up the lotus leaf on the side, don't put a toothpick to tie the fold of the lotus leaf tightly.

Put it in a heated steamer and steam on medium heat for an hour.

Tips:
-The lotus leaf does not need to be boiled in hot water for a long time, just boil it softly.
-Sausages tend to scorch when they are fried, so they must be slowly heated in a cold pan over low heat.
-Corn kernels and diced carrots can use frozen corn kernels sold in supermarkets.
-Pour out the excess water after the rice is soaked, no need to drain.
-Since the rice is steamed directly in the pot, the steaming time is slightly longer than that of lotus leaf rice made with rice.
-Many people ask me how to make the secret braised sauce. Actually they can be bought in supermarkets; you can also use dark soy sauce instead, but the dark soy sauce is too salty and not fragrant. I suggest using this secret braised sauce as one Seasoning.
