According to legend, Li Xia Day is the birthday of the cow. In order to reward the diligent, down-to-earth cows, people use glutinous rice to make rice balls for the cows to eat in Li Xia day, hoping that the cows can work harder.

Because Li Xia is the turn of spring and summer, it is the best time for children to grow and develop.
