Shaomai, also known as siu mai, is a steamed snack wrapped in dough and stuffed in a basket. It is available all over the country. We have two kinds here, one is glutinous rice filling, and the other is bamboo shoot meat filling. My kids still love glutinous rice filling because there is not only glutinous rice in it, but I also add diced sausage. With miscellaneous vegetables, glutinous rice meets soy sauce to the fullest, it has a unique taste, delicious aroma, and every time my child is out of the basket, he has to eat a few more before he is willing to leave.

Sausage, Mixed Vegetables, Glutinous Rice and Shaomai

1. Add flour to Joyoung Smart Noodle Maker M6-L20, and then add 5 grams of salt

2. After powering on and closing the lid, choose the dumpling wrapper, and then leave it alone. I chose a fully automatic one. It will automatically and accurately add water. Don’t worry about adding more or less water.

3. I'll show up in a while

4. Spread the dough flat on the chopping board and sprinkle a little dry powder on it and press it into a round dough with a mold

5. Put everything in a fresh-keeping bag and let stand for half an hour

6. I made the noodles in the morning. The glutinous rice needs to be washed overnight and soaked. This season is no problem. It may be stored in the refrigerator in summer. It can be easily crushed and washed with fingers.

7. Steam it in a steamer on cold water, about 20 minutes

8. Prepare miscellaneous vegetables and sausages. The miscellaneous vegetables are clear beans, diced carrots and corn kernels. I bought the ready-made sausages. It is best to use the Cantonese-style sausage.

9. Steam the sausage in water for 15 minutes, then take it out and cut into thin slices

10. Pour olive oil into the hot pot. This filling has higher calories, so I used olive oil

11. Pour the mixed vegetables in warm oil and fry until the aroma comes out, then pour in the sausage and stir fry evenly

12. Then pour the glutinous rice flour into the stir-fry, add the light soy sauce and stir-fry until the rice grains evenly stick to the sauce color. Turn off the heat and let it cool.

13. At this time the dough is also awake, so use a rolling pin to roll out the dough thinner

14. Take a piece of skin and add the fried stuffing

15. Close the mouth with a tiger's mouth and put it in a steamer with oil, make it all in a cold water pot and steam for 8 minutes, then it will be out of the pot.

Tips:

1. With this amount, you can make 2 cages like this. You can put it in the refrigerator if you can't finish it, and heat it in water if you want to eat it.

2. When frying glutinous rice, add soy sauce. Different brands of soy sauce have different tastes, which can be increased or decreased according to your own taste.
