The Lantern Festival on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month always reminds people of "fireworks, dragon and lion dances, lantern festivals, lantern riddles" and other activities, but "fourteen nights, eating bad soup" is my childhood memory. The deepest impression. "Fourteen nights, eat bad soup, watch the lanterns" is a traditional program of the Lantern Festival in Taizhou, Zhejiang. Taizhou people celebrate the Lantern Festival on 14th, not 15th. There are many legends about "fourteen nights, eat bad soup". , But the more agreeable version is that when the famous anti-Japanese general Qi Jiguang was fighting against the enemy in eastern Zhejiang, he was chased by Japanese pirates to the fairy cave in Sanmen. The local villagers saw Qi’s army hiding in the cave and had no food for several days. Hunger was hard to endure, so they took out their only food, but the villagers were also very poor at the time. How could there be any good food in the family? So the owner put together a little bit of western products, and they all have vegetables such as greens, radishes and winter bamboo shoots, but they can’t eat enough just to eat this dish, and they can’t get so much rice. What should I do? So someone came up with a good way to chop up these vegetables, put them in a pot, and add some rice flour batter to cook them together, and cook them into a big pot of soup. Soldiers and the people shared the same food. After the Qi’s army had finished eating, their morale greatly increased and they were defeated. After the Japanese pirates, they won the victory. This became the "bad soup" later. And that day happened to be the fourteenth of the first lunar month. Later, to commemorate the Qi family army, the custom of eating bad soup for fourteen nights was retained here. There are still traces of Qi's army in the fairy cave of Sanmen.
The special thing about "Fourteen Nights, Eat Bad Soup" is that that night, every house has its doors open and brightly lit. No matter who you are, acquaintances or strangers, you can eat it from house to house. Zuogeng is also called Fa Caigeng. The more people eat, the more households eat, which means prosperity for both people and wealth. So this night, every household will burn a big pot of soup, some salty and sweet, and then turn on the lights in each room and leave the door open. First to welcome the God of Wealth, second to welcome guests to eat soup. I remember that when I was a child, I took a small "foreign iron bowl", a small iron spoon, an older child holding a tooth pot (it says Serving the people), an iron spoon, and a group of children. With long queues and homemade lanterns, you can hear the beating of Dingdingdongdongdong from far away. Of course, the first choice is "bridal bad soup", because the local custom is that the new daughter-in-law who got married in the past will make "bridal bad soup". "Gang" is even more beautiful than the bride's, and the soup made is delicious. "Bride’s soup" is sweet, which means the newlyweds are sweet and sweet. Now the sweet soup uses more ingredients, including carrots, Water chestnuts, longans, dried persimmons, red dates, small glutinous rice balls, etc. were made with water, starch, brown sugar (or white sugar), but the conditions were not so good at that time. There were only a few ingredients such as watercress, carrots, and red dates. Wife’s people have sweet soup, so the first pot of "bride's soup" must be everyone scrambling for it. After a while, the bottom of the pot will be in full swing. Generally, if the village is large and the population is large, at least three pots should be made. Some even six or seven pots. It was not easy for the bride at that time. I still remember that my bride’s bad soup did not make six or seven pots, thanks to the help of my mother-in-law. After eating the "Bride’s Soup", the mighty team set off for the next family, and they would eat more than a dozen families in one night, some even more. It’s no wonder that some people say that fourteen nights’ belly is a rubber belly. No matter how much you eat, you won’t feel full. After eating, it’s better than anyone’s bad soup. The one who eats the most, of course, the delicious one will definitely become the first choice next year. . Every family’s conditions are better now, and the kids eat a lot. They won’t go to other homes to eat bad food anymore, but the bride’s bad food is still popular. Those who get married back then will make a few pots, invite friends and relatives to eat, let’s get together Gather, retell the past, increase feelings. It is said that the children nowadays are rich in material things. The children at that time were poor, but they were not as happy in spirit as the children at that time. I also miss the scene of eating bad food during the fourteenth night of childhood. "

Tips:

1. The traditional soup uses early rice noodles, because my mother-in-law likes to make it with flour. Since I got married to their family, I have switched to using flour. I personally think that making it with flour is more smooth and refreshing;

2. The traditional soup uses dried cuttlefish. The dried cuttlefish is salty, with a harder taste and more fragrant taste. I don't like to eat pickled food. For health, I always like to use fresh cuttlefish;

3. The seafood used in the traditional soup also includes oysters and razor clams. Because of my husband's ventilation disease, he can't eat too much seafood. I can only reluctantly give up my love. Adding oysters and razor clams will taste more delicious;

4. Don't stir with chopsticks when eating the glutinous soup, or the glutinous soup will become watery soup. When eating the glutinous soup, you can drink it in circles without using chopsticks and spoons.
